Teach them about Jesus

Since it’s a new decade a lot of people are talking about planning for 10 years. This is a hard stage for me to consider that. In 10 years my littlest will be old enough to drive and everyone else will likely be out of the house doing their own thing. Everything I’ve poured myself into for 14 yrs now (and 24 years then) will be out being refined and tested. What can I sow in just 10 years? What truths do I determine I will not let slip by without watering in? So many variables. So many unknowns. I don’t know how anyone parents without Jesus.

I can’t possibly prepare these kids enough for life and every trial they may face. I can only introduce them to the truth. I can only let them see how I handle problems when I don’t know what to do. Jesus. I can only let them see me fall, get back up and see what sustains me when I feel lost as a goose. Jesus.

The Word become flesh. (John 1:16)

The Way when I am uncertain. (John 14:6)

The Truth when we are surrounded by lies. (John 14:6)

The Light when the world is seeming so dark. (John 8:12)

The Advocate when we are guilty. (1 John 2:1)

The Ever Present Help in times of trouble. (Psalms 46:1)

The Constant Friend when all else have turned on me. (Prov 18:24)

The Defender when I can’t fight anymore. (Prov 23:11)

To some this will seem like a copout, but to those who really know Him, and His presence, and His peace – you all know – there is nothing better than knowing Jesus.
