I am a “fix it” kinda gal. My dad once told me that you can fix just about anything if you look at it long enough. It’s true, really!
Broken sink, lawnmower, light fixture, car- most anything has a solution that you can get your human mind to come up with, upon enough study of course. What these things have in common is they were created inside a human mind.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are my ways your ways.”
Isaiah 55:8
To fix human brokeness is another story entirely. You can give someone all the “right” answers. You can know the seemingly “right” thing to do. Yet, no matter how long you “look” at those problems there are some issues that can only be fixed by the One who manufactured the item…and it’s proprietary knowledge. You can’t get it fixed anywhere else.
My husband and I got Samsung Z Flip 3’s for an anniversary gift a few months ago. Super cool phone! His is working great but mine eventually began to darken where the screen folds and became unusable. I don’t buy phone insurance. I’ve never needed it really. The time or two I have over the past 20 years I just got a cheaper one until my upgrade was available or the issue was covered under warranty. You’d think this would be the case for the folding screen but Samsung denied my claim and my repair. Long story short, my carrier, who has always done right by me, can’t work on the phone because it’s proprietary knowledge. So we had to send it to the manufacturer and the manufacturer basically ripped me off. I’m so thankful Samsung isn’t God!
God is just. He is merciful. He isn’t worried about profit and loss reports because His supply is limitless. He doesn’t lose. Anything. Ever. Including His children. The Amplified Bible says it like this –
He [God] [b]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor[c]give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [d][I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor[e]let [you] down ([f]relax My hold on you)! [[g]Assuredly not!]
Hebrews 13:5
Did you catch that? Not only will He not but – He will not, He will not, He will not forsake you, let you down, leave you helpless, or lose his grip on you. What a promise!!
The complexity of a human soul and spirit is something that cannot begin to enter the borders of our finite minds. All we can do is run to the One who holds it all in His hands. The one who “formed my innermost parts” and knows me better than I know myself. He never denies a claim and He paid, in full, every debt I’ll ever owe. May we never shy away from His presence and completely capable hands.
We had a beautifully busy week. We partnered to help a neighboring church supply school supplies and back packs to around 120 kids. They provided free haircuts, games, food and an environment to simply love on our neighbors. Members from various local churches, friends and family came together to serve people in their community. It wasn’t about who did what, it was about getting it done and alleviating a burden.
As a lifelong homeschooler, I was shocked when I saw the school supply list for the local public schools. Mom’s and Dad’s are shoveling out quite a bit, especially when they have more than one child!
School supply packing party!
I’m seeing more and more the unifying atmosphere that the Lord wants among His people. Churches becoming more about His Kingdom than their personal kingdoms. People serving because there is a need and not just because it’s more blessed to give than receive. Hearts open and surrendered to whatever work the Lord has for them regardless of whose name is on the sign. That is good and pleasant indeed!!
This is something that very much pleases our Father. His children working together in unity, to share His love with those around them, in whatever area they are placed in. Whether it be through a smile, kind word, prayer, hug, or backpack. “Whoever gives even a cup of water to one of these little ones will not lose his reward.” He cares about the little things. We should too.
